Stained Glass #0

My very first window. Made in Brian Herbison’s glass at Inglemoor High School. His instructions were to create a simple symmetrical design. I was the asshole that went and used rotational symmetry and went doubly rogue by painting outside the lines. This was a gift for my Dad who hade it in his window until the day he died.

When I graduated high school, my parents asked me what I wanted as gift. As a direct result of Brian’s wonderful teaching (he was also my Creative Writing teacher), I asked for a stained glass studio kit.

I have made many windows – only a few of which are included in this blog. For example, this is the only picture I have of a piece I made for my old friend Brian Webb. It features a motorcycle gear and broken glass from a recent car crash I was in. Circa sometime before I left for the Army in 1991.
